Beneath the makeup,
the thick eyelashes,
with lips painted rouge,
and cheeks rosy red.

Beneath the clothes,
the fashions that make her,
just like everyone else,
covering her secrets.

Beneath the scars,
that push people away,
in disgust and in fear,
marks of mistakes.

Beneath these tears of sorrow,
pain, loneliness and self-reflection,
through the running makeup,
that drips onto her bare skin.

Beneath it all she is naked,
free of coloured perfections,
and fitted fashions,
rid of smiles that are fake,
and lies voiced frequently.

Appearing before you,
not in a dream, but reality.
This is who she is,
beneath it all- just a girl, just a girl…

…Won’t you tell her she’s beautiful?
